David Sung-il Hwang, 황성일 (aka dayv., pronounced day-v), is a multi-faceted designer based in Northern California. Guided by a seemingly simple yet profound philosophy: uncovering the beauty within the mundane. David approaches design as a way to view the world through a unique lens, noticing the everyday things beyond the present, and seeing them for what could be and what once was. With a diverse background as an entrepreneur, photographer, fashion designer, and therapist, David has explored various industries from a young age, pivoting multiple times to discover his true passion. Through his journey, he has found that design allows him to integrate and leverage all of his talents.

David's approach is heavily influenced by his upbringing as a "third culture kid" (TCK), with roots stretching across Australia, South Korea, and America. This unique blend of cultures has instilled in him an experimental nature, fostering a design ethos that celebrates the convergence of diverse cultural identities and perspectives.
